Institute Commitments
As we build on the Institute’s longstanding commitment to community and advance the MIT Strategic Action Plan for Belonging, Achievement, and Composition, we reflect on the status of the 2015 recommendations of the Black Students’ Union and Black Graduate Student Association; the recommendations of the NASEM working groups on gender and sexual harassment; and the commitments the president made in July 2020.

July 2020 commitments
In summer 2020, amid the national outcry over the brutal killing of George Floyd, the president committed MIT to a series of actions to advance a more just and equitable future.
NASEM recommendations
An Implementation Team continues to advance the recommendations of the working groups MIT charged following a landmark National Academies report on gender and sexual harassment.
BSU/BGSA recommendations
Actions spurred by the 2015 recommendations of the Black Students’ Union and Black Graduate Student Association continue to pave the way for meaningful and lasting change across the MIT community.
